TOBIAS SPEARS

Biologist/DEI Officer

Tobias is a sneaker lover, bike rider, and black feminist scholar. He serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer and Assistant Dean in the Biological Sciences Division here at University of Chicago. Tobias holds a PhD in Cultural Studies, a master’s degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and writes about Black queer people and media representation. Tobias is from Brooklyn, NY, but has lived in 

Woodlawn Chicago for the past 7 years.
